The emissions gap

This chapter updates the annual assessment of the emissions gap in the year 2030. Consistent with previous reports, the emissions gap in 2030 is defined as the difference between projected emissions under full implementation of the nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and emissions under least-cost pathways that are in line with the Paris Agreement goals of limiting global average temperature increase to well below 2°C and pursuing to limiting it to 1.5°C.
