Introduction (English)

This is the forty-ninth issue of the United Nations Statistical Yearbook, prepared by the Statistics Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, of the United Nations Secretariat. The tables include series covering from two to ten years, depending upon data availability and space constraints. The ten-year tables generally cover the years 1993 to 2002 or 1994 to 2003. For the most part, the statistics presented are those which were available to the Statistics Division as of February 2005.
